GoHire were in receipt of two awards at the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards this year! We also won the Small Business of the Year category.

The virtual awards were presented online by Television presenter Louise Minchin kept a Zoom room of finalists enthralled as an online audience looked on. The highlight of the night was the business community's appreciation of the city's NHS workers with a special recognition accolade.

The awareds described how Sally Wray bought a Hull tool hire business five years ago, partly inspired by her daughter’s reaction to a bedtime story, where she felt a princess should have saved herself.

Moving to new premises, with the new name of Go Hire, she brought it into the current era and 2020 saw significant investment and growth of 18 per cent, despite more than a quarter of Covid impact.

Record monthly turnover was rung up in July, with significant investment in IT, plant and equipment, including two excavators, a new line.

We completed a deal with Caspian Plant Hire to acquire a Grimsby branch, with further plans for another outlet in East Hull as further expansion into wider Yorkshire and Lincolnshire becomes “more of a reality than a dream”.

Of the award, Sally said: “We have worked relentlessly to ensure we are providing the best service we possibly can, and we are rewarded with repeat and loyal custom. I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve put together - there’s absolutely no way that anyone can do it on their own.

“This is a great achievement for the whole team.”
